American-Palestinian Adolescent Freed After 270 Days in Israel's Detention

A Palestinian-American adolescent who spent a nine-month period in imprisonment by Israel without being charged gained freedom.

Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old when he was arrested in February within the occupied West Bank, where he was visiting on holiday from Florida for allegedly throwing stones toward Israeli settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

American diplomatic officials expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.

Currently aged sixteen, was taken to hospital right after being freed, according to close relatives.

They said he is showing signs of malnutrition, while battling health issues acquired while detained.

Via family representatives, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "living a horrific and endless nightmare" over the last nine months.

"Currently, we are focused on providing Mohammed with prompt healthcare necessary for his recovery after being subjected to Israel's abuse and inhumane conditions over several months."

American authorities said it would continue to provide consular support for the Ibrahim family.

{"US government authorities considers paramount to the protection and welfare for United States citizens"," it added.

A group of American legislators endorsed a document to diplomatic officials and the White House, requesting additional efforts to secure his release.

Mohammed's parent, parent of four children who runs an ice cream business in Florida, previously said Mohammed acknowledged allegations to throwing stones because the soldiers beat him.

The father hadn't visited or communicated with his son since February, learning information solely about his son's condition through judicial records.

He stayed without charge in Ofer prison on the West Bank.

Additionally housing mature inmates, including individuals found guilty of serious terrorism offences and murder.

Approximately 350 Palestinian minors in security custody currently imprisoned in Israel, based on prison authority data.

Numerous remain uncharged along with monitoring agencies, as well as the United Nations, report instances of abuse and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, the uncle stated the family would also continue fighting for justice for his cousin their cousin Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen who the Palestinian health ministry said died from beating by radical settlers amid clashes last July.

Initially, defense forces stated authorities were looking into reports a Palestinian civilian was deceased.

The two cousins had worked together in the family ice cream shop from Tampa.

No indictments occurred regarding Sayfollah's death.

"We anticipate US authorities to ensure our family's safety," the uncle stated.
